Regency Square Mall gets demolition approval; here’s when it could start  News4JAX

The former Regency Square Mall’s east wing was approved for demolition Friday morning, signaling the start of the end for the 59-year-old regional shopping center. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The former Regency Square Mall’s east wing was approved for demolition Friday morning, signaling the start of the end for the 59-year-old regional shopping center. RELATED: What’s happening with the Regency Square Mall? Fence and construction equipment surrounds site According to the Jacksonville Daily Record, the city issued a permit for Realco Recycling Co. Inc. to demolish the East Mall between Impact Church and the former JCPenney department store. Work likely will start next week to take down the building.

Site work has been ongoing in preparation. The city issued a permit Aug. 10 for Lighthouse Construction of North Florida LLC of Jacksonville to put up masonry walls to cap off Impact Church and the JCPenney building. Impact Church owns and operates its building, which is not part of the demolition.
