The Democrat was elected in Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, which includes Clayton County GEORGIA — Atlanta Pride tapped Rep. Everton Blair to be the honorary grand marshal for this year’s festival. The Democrat was elected in Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, which includes Clayton County. He’s serving the remainder of the term of the late Congressman David Scott. Blair said he’s looking forward to helping lead the festival, but he wants people to focus less on his identity and more on the issues.
"While it’s very, very key, role model and symbolism, that I get to stand in this really powerful intersection, we’ve got to stay on message," Blair said. "And we’ve got to be more focused on making things more affordable for people in the district." Atlanta Pride bills its festival as the largest gay pride event in the South.
