Polls, Analysis, Learning, and More – Marist Poll

Polls, Analysis, Learning, and More  Marist Poll

The Marist Institute for Public Opinion (MIPO) is a survey research center. MIPO is home to the Marist Poll and conducts polls on politics, the economy, sports, technology and more at the local, state, and national level. A majority of likely voters nationally say they are more likely to vote for the Democratic running for Congress in their district rather than the Republican, giving the Democrats an 8-point lead on the generic congressional ballot question. With negative views toward President Donald Trump permeating the electoral landscape, a plurality of likely voters say their congressional vote is one in opposition to the president. 40% of likely voters approve of the job President Trump is doing in office, and 59% disapprove.

Likely voters are more than twice as likely to strongly disapprove (53%) of President Trump’s job performance than to strongly approve (24%). The president’s approval rating notches down to 38% among registered voters nationally. Among this group, 61% disapprove. President Trump’s favorable rating is also upside down. 37% of likely voters have a favorable opinion of the president, and 58%, including 14% of Republicans, have an unfavorable impression of him. 77% of likely voters are confident or very confident that their state or local government will conduct fair and accurate elections in November. 21% are not very confident or not confident
