During the quarter, Newport News Shipbuilding received contracts for Block VI Virginia-class and Build II Columbia-class submarine construction. The division also achieved preliminary acceptance of the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy (CVN 79). Ingalls Shipbuilding reported revenue of $876 million, an increase of 5.8%, mainly supported by amphibious ship programmes. However, its segment operating income declined to $59 million from $65 million a year earlier.
