Tidal Flooding Continues To Close Roads Across Marin County: Police Patch
Police urged drivers to avoid several flooded areas as unusually high tides continued to affect local roads. MARIN COUNTY, CA — Tidal flooding prompted road closures and warnings again on Thursday across Marin County, with police urging drivers to avoid several affected streets in Mill Valley, Larkspur and Corte Madera. The Mill Valley Police Department issued an alert at 1:19 p.m. Thursday, advising drivers to avoid Miller Avenue between Camino Alto and Almonte Boulevard, as well as the west side of Redwood Highway Frontage Road between Hamilton Drive and the southbound Highway 101 off-ramp/on-ramp. The closures require traffic to detour until the flooding recedes. Central Marin police issued a separate alert at 2:21 p.m., warning drivers to avoid Fifer Avenue, Lucky Drive, the 200 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard, Doherty Drive near Riviera Circle and Larkspur Plaza Drive because of tidal flooding.
The latest closures follow flooding in Mill Valley earlier in the week. On Wednesday, police closed Miller Avenue between Camino Alto and Almonte Boulevard and Redwood Highway Frontage Road between Hamilton Drive and 555 Redwood Highway Frontage Road. The flooding comes amid exceptionally high tides along the California coast. Water levels had surpassed a 100-year record, raising concerns about further coastal flooding, officials said. The National Weather Service has warned that unusually high tides can flood low-lying shoreline
