After reaching the rare milestone of 50 years of professional service, Nam’s career reflects not only his personal commitment to engineering, but also the evolving technologies, organizations and mission requirements that have shaped infrastructure across U.S. military installations in the Republic of Korea. Nam began his career May 19, 1975, with architect-engineer contractor Telescopic Engineering, working as a mechanical systems draftsman and designer.

After completing mandatory military service from 1978 to 1980, he joined FED on April 24, 1980. His first assignment with the district was in the Design Branch’s Cost Estimating Section, where he prepared Independent Government Estimates and reviewed contractor proposals as part of the Technical Analysis Unit. Over 50 years of industry and organizational transformations, he built a reputation as a trusted technical expert across various regional field offices. Today, he serves as a general engineer with the Central Resident Office, delivering mechanical engineering support for projects across the Korean Peninsula—a position he has held since 2006.
