A teenage boy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a North Side home Sunday afternoon and a man was additionally shot in the process, according to San Antonio police. SAN ANTONIO – A teenage boy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a North Side home Sunday afternoon, and a man was additionally shot in the process, according to San Antonio police. A preliminary report said officers found a 15-year-old boy dead inside a house in the 500 block of Marchmont Lane, near Olmos Elementary School, around 5 p.m. The teenager returned to the North Side house after reportedly running away, according to police. SAPD said he then shot himself when he came back to the house.

A medical examiner has yet to rule the teen’s cause and manner of death. A 38-year-old man, believed to be his stepfather, attempted to move the gun away from the teen and accidentally shot himself while doing so, SAPD said. Police said there were about four to five people in the home at the time, including at least one other child. Family members were inside the house but not in the room where the shooting happened, according to police. A gun was found inside the home.
