A driver was arrested after leading a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper on a chase through San Antonio that ended with a crash into a runway at the San Antonio International Airport, the agency said Saturday. SAN ANTONIO – A driver was arrested after leading a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper on a chase through San Antonio that ended with a crash into a runway at the San Antonio International Airport, the agency said Saturday. The trooper attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2012 Chrysler around 1:30 a.m. Saturday near Loop 410 and Babcock Road. DPS said the driver evaded through various parts of the city before crashing through a gate off Jones Maltsberger Road and into the airport runway.

The collision disabled the vehicle. On Saturday afternoon, DPS identified the driver as Brandon Christopher Figueroa, 25, from Refugio, Texas. Figueroa was arrested for evading arrest in a motor vehicle and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to DPS. Andrea K. Moreno is a Digital Journalist at KSAT. She graduated from Texas State University with an electronic media degree and a minor in psychology. She also attended San Antonio College, where she held several positions at the college's newspaper for three years.
