Edible Beats announced it plans to open a sister restaurant to El Five called Pip Food + Drink at 2930 Umatilla St., the former space of Sushi Ronin. The restaurant will celebrate whimsy and a spirited personality.It’s set to open in the fall, a news release said. “I like to joke that we’re opening Pip as a way to clear out my very packed storage unit,” said Justin Cucci, chef and founder of Edible Beats, in a news release.

“And while the design will be inspired by all the interesting things I’ve collected over the years, the real impetus for the project is to launch something unexpected and new to the Edible Beats universe.” The menu will be developed by El Five’s Executive Chef Corey Ferguson with a “wide menu” of smaller plates and “micro-cocktails.” It will also serve full entrée items and serve lunch, happy hour and dinner. The restaurant group behind North Italia, Flower Child, Blanco Tacos & Tequila and Culinary Dropout plans to open
