Republicans double down on attack over Airwallex’s China links  AFR

Airwallex co-founder Jack Zhang says the payments giant now valued at more than $15 billion is the target of an increasingly conspiratorial political campaign in the United States after a Republican-controlled congressional committee warned the company could create a backdoor that would give Chinese authorities access to sensitive American data.

In a letter to Treasury secretary Scott Bessent, the committee’s chairman John Moolenaar detailed his concerns about the structure of Airwallex and said its links to China could compromise “sensitive US financial data”.
