The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it arrested a dozen suspects as part of this year’s National Organized Retail Crime Blitz. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it arrested a dozen suspects as part of this year’s National Organized Retail Crime Blitz. The three-day operation targeted organized retail theft at two of Jacksonville’s major shopping destinations. Working alongside the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, JSO’s Specialized Property Crime Unit detectives and District 3 and District 6 patrol officers identified and arrested 12 suspects at the St. Johns Town Center and River City Marketplace.

JSO says the consequences of retail theft extend beyond store shelves. “These aren’t victimless crimes,” the agency said in a statement. “When merchandise is stolen, businesses lose money, and customers like you feel the impact with higher prices.” “Our work doesn’t end just because the blitz has,” the agency said. “We are watching for thieves around the clock.” Anyone who suspects retail theft or other suspicious activity is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500.
