A man was injured in an early-morning shooting Wednesday in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was injured in an early-morning shooting Wednesday in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Officers responded around 1 a.m. Barnett Street near 7th Street West after receiving a report of a person shot. The victim is being treated for his injuries. The suspect remains unknown. JSO said detectives recovered several shell casings and are processing the scene for evidence. Investigators are also interviewing witnesses, canvassing the area for surveillance video and following up on leads. The crime scene remained active Wednesday morning, and detectives were expected to stay in the area for several more hours.

JSO said the shooting appears to be isolated, with no current indication that it was domestic- or gang-related. Detectives are still working to determine whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
