Starbucks closures include 9 stores in Colorado The Coloradoan
Nine Starbucks stores across Colorado were shuttered recently in a wave of closings by the specialty coffee chain. The closings, among 250 planned as part of downsizing announced on Sept. 24, included stores on the Western Slope and the Front Range. The cuts come on top of 11 closings across Colorado almost exactly a year prior, when hundreds of locations were also shuttered nationwide. Starbucks Chief Operating Officer Mike Grams said in a public letter that the coffee chain closes locations each year. “We’re making this decision for a simple reason: We want every Starbucks coffeehouse to be a place customers love and partners are proud to work," Grams said in the letter.
While Starbucks did not publish a list of store closings, USA TODAY compiled one by verifying closures reported by starbuckseverywhere.net. The addresses were cross-checked by searching for the stores on Starbucks' store locator (which indicated that online ordering was not available at closed locations) and identifying permanently closed businesses on Google and Yelp. USA TODAY reached out to Starbucks multiple times for a list of the store closures before publishing its list. Starbucks told USA TODAY that customers could find signage on doors of closed locations and check the Starbucks store locator and mobile app to see if a location remains open.
