In many cases, it's short, edited versions of another creator's work, a practice which is known as “clipping.” YouTube has now cracked down on “clipping” in its latest update, with the aim of prioritizing original content in users' Shorts feeds, rather than chopped-up versions of other creators' content. The video streaming giant said the update will deliver a better experience for viewers and will ensure “creators publishing original content have the best chance to grow and succeed.” For Shorts viewers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, the change affects recommendations rather than introducing a separately announced local feature.
YouTube has not provided a country-specific rollout date, so the timing across the Middle East is unclear.
