Denver weather: Hot with a chance of Friday afternoon showers Denver Gazette
Another hot day is on tap in Denver on Friday with a chance of afternoon showers. The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect a high of 94 degrees at Denver International Airport, the city’s official weather monitoring station. That’s about 10 degrees hotter than the average high for this time of year. The all-time record high for Sept. 4 in Denver is 97 degrees, last set in 1997, according to weather service archive data. Meteorologists said to expect about a 20% chance of showers in Denver, mainly after 3 p.m. with light and variable winds at about 5 to 10 mph.
The highest chance for rain Friday is in the mountains, the weather service said. Most of the Denver metro area is under a moderate heat risk on Friday, with some areas in the south and southeast parts of the metro area expected to see major heat risk, the weather service said. That means anyone without access to proper cooling and adequate hydration could be impacted. Highs this weekend in Denver are expected to reach the low 90s with partly sunny skies.
