Highlights and analysis on Match of the Day

With Man Utd v Spurs, Arsenal v Leeds and Chelsea v Bournemouth as the top flight returns

The highlights programme covers six Premier League matches, broadening the focus beyond the three fixtures already identified. One of those games is Arsenal’s home meeting with Leeds at the Emirates, where the champions face Leeds. Arsenal’s status as champions and the Emirates as the venue are confirmed details of that fixture. The edition therefore includes coverage of a champions’ home match as part of its six-match Premier League selection. Three further Premier League matches are also included in the highlights programme. Spurs make the trip to Manchester United from the bottom of the Premier League table.

Their position at the foot of the table is part of the confirmed context for that match, while Manchester United are the home side. The six-match highlights line-up thus includes a meeting involving the bottom club, alongside the champions’ game against Leeds. The programme’s confirmed match details identify Arsenal as champions, Spurs as bottom of the table, the Emirates as Arsenal’s venue, and Manchester United as Spurs’ destination.
