Featuring a 50-passenger capacity, the expanded facility stands as a testament to regional partnership and modernized travel, according to officials. Brig. Gen. Alexander Lovasz, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, said the Waynesville-St. Robert Regional Airport at Forney Army Airfield is one of 21 joint-use airfields throughout the Department of War. “The Army appreciates the long-standing partnership we have between the installation and our respective communities,” Lovasz said.

“Last year alone this airfield serviced almost 11,000 people. So this ceremony is truly a celebration of not only a facility but of a capability that will ultimately improve access to Fort Leonard Wood.” Waynesville Mayor Sean Wilson said the new terminal represents growth, transformation and evolution for the community. “Our community has people working together to transform this community and to continue to evolve and adapt,” Wilson said. St. Robert Mayor James Breckinridge said with the volume of passengers the airport has seen this year, the new terminal “couldn’t come at a better time.”
