A New Chapter in Sustainment: 10th Support Group transitions to 45th Sustainment Brigade

The U.S. Army formally inactivated the 10th Support Group and reactivated the 45th Sustainment Brigade during a ceremony Oct. 6 at Torii Station, markin… The U.S. Army formally inactivated the 10th Support Group and reactivated the 45th Sustainment Brigade during a ceremony Oct. 6 at Torii Station, marking a new chapter in the Army’s sustainment structure in Japan and across the Indo-Pacific. The transition is part of the Army’s broader organizational restructuring in the region and aligns the 45th Sustainment Brigade under the 8th Theater Sustainment Command. The new command relationship strengthens the Army’s ability to synchronize sustainment capabilities in support of Army, joint and multinational operations throughout the Indo-Pacific.

“Today is more than casing one set of colors and uncasing another,” said Maj. Gen. James K. Dooghan, commander of U.S. Army Japan. “It’s about continuity and transformation. It’s about ensuring our Army is positioned to sustain the force wherever and whenever it is needed.” For nearly four decades, the 10th Support Group served as a cornerstone of Army operations in Japan and throughout the region. From logistics and ammunition support to reception, staging, onward movement and integration, the unit played a critical role in maintaining the Army’s operational reach across the Pacific.
