Acton visits Columbus-area restaurant on the campaign trail WSYX
Just 19 days before Ohioans hit the polls, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton stopped at B&K Smoke House in East Columbus. B&K Smoke House is a black-owned business that has been operating in Columbus for 14 years. The owner, James Howell, showed Acton around his business while talking to her about how it came to be. The stop was a part of her "My Promise for Ohio" tour, where she's visiting small businesses to hear their struggles and share how she plans on lowering costs and promoting economic growth. Acton said if she is elected governor, she'll issue several executive orders from day one. "We're starting with a working family's tax cut, instead of getting tax breaks to billionaires, like my opponent and his friends," Acton said.
"We're going to put money immediately in people's pockets, do a child tax credit, one of the best ways to keep families afloat and keep children out of poverty.” During their meeting, Howell mentioned the everyday costs small businesses have to deal with like surcharges on trash pickup, the rising cost of fuel and managing paying his employees a fair wage while keeping costs low for customers. Acton said her goal as governor is to provide meaningful relief to Ohioans. Dr. Amy Acton stopped at B&K Smoke House in East Columbus on
