Attorneys work to block his removal. | NewsRadio 1080 KRLD Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, 28, is in ICE custody at the South Texas ICE Processing Center in Pearsall with a bullet still near his spine after an ICE agent shot him Sunday during a North Austin encounter, his attorney and the man himself said Monday. Austin-Travis County EMS said the shooting happened about 12:56 p.m. near Anderson Square and Research Boulevard. Paramedics found a man with a gunshot wound to the torso and took him to Dell Seton Medical Center in serious but stable condition. Austin police were not involved.

Chief Lisa Davis said she had been told there was a brief foot pursuit; that account is disputed.
