"If you see the mountain lion, slowly back away, do not run," city officials warned. SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A mountain lion spotted roaming through a San Francisco neighborhood on Friday morning, prompting a citywide alert, has been captured, city officials said. Animal Care & Control San Francisco officials said the mountain lion was safely shot with a tranquilizer dart and will be checked by veterinarians before being released back to the wild. "State and Fish and Wildlife Game Wardens have the mountain lion in their care," authorities said. "There is no current danger to the public." The mountain lion was seen Friday morning near 44th and Ulloa streets, in the Outer Sunset neighborhood, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management said.

"If you see the mountain lion, slowly back away; do not run," city officials said at the time. "If you have a child with you — pick them up — and keep dogs on leash. If the mountain lion approaches — make yourself 'big,' wave your arms, shout, throw something, and again, do not run."
