George Wolfe gives a guided tour along the Los Angeles River on July 25, 2026. In 2008, Wolfe helped lead a 51-mile kayak expedition down the Los Angeles River to demonstrate that the waterway was navigable, helping pave the way for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to classify the river as “Traditional Navigable Waters” and grant it protections under the Clean Water Act in 2010. In 2011, Wolfe started offering guided kayak tours that introduce visitors to the river’s wildlife, ecology, and ongoing restoration.
