South Carolina Defense Report Card: Position By Position Grades for the Gamecocks  Sports Illustrated

South Carolina has seen improvements in some areas and regression in others. Where are they getting a passing grade? Where are they failing? We take a look. Five weeks into the year it's time to give out a midseason report card for the South Carolina Gamecocks' offense. How are they doing and which unit needs to get better quickly? We take a look. The defensive line is a better and deeper group than it was a year ago. Last year the front had major problems stopping the run, this year? That's not the case. The Gamecocks are giving up just a hair over 100 yards per game (100.4) which is good enough for sixth in the conference and 36 yards less than 2025.

Also they are holding opponents to 3.24 yards per carry (seventh in the SEC) as opposed to 3.79 a year ago. While not perfect, it's a much improved unit. Improvements to be made: stay healthy. Gabriel Browlow-Dindy and Kelby Collins have been dealing with nagging injuries. Brownlow-Dindy offers the highest upside and is the veteran presence in the room. He and this line have to stay healthy if they want to continue being a stout rushing defense. South Carolina is tied for ninth in the SEC with 13 sacks on the year. All this is without Dylan
