Will Republicans Rally Around President Trump? News Radio 1200 WOAI
The midterms showed that Democrats can still win newly drawn seats and legislative majorities when Republicans are divided Now that the midterms are over, President Trump is now officially a 'lame duck'. And many conservatives say that Republicans need to rally around President Trump before 2028. "Well, they have to, I mean they have no choice" said host and Republican strategist, Matt Locke, "If Republicans want to survive, they'll all hook their wagon to Trump and hang on." "If the Republican Party is smart, which some of the leadership is not, they would do everything they could to make sure that things that Trump needed and wants, still get done" Locke told KTRH.
If not, the Democrats will be more than happy to take advantage. So, what would supporting a 'lame duck' President Trump look like? "Well, I think it's going to look like what we've been seeing for the first two years" noted Locke, "You just have all the same people in the power structure. They're not smart, so this is going to be an interesting deal." He adds that 'MAGA' is not dead, and that Republicans need to stay unified. Especially when the Dems come after them.
