Denver Water considers restrictions as reservoir water levels drop  CBS News

Denver Water is trying to decide how to decrease the amount of water people are using as reservoir water levels continue to drop. Colorado has been dealing with significant drought conditions this year, and conserving water is proving challenging. Denver Water's board of commissioners will vote on Wednesday to decide if the city will end lawn watering. Denver Water says that despite the recent rain, there hasn't been much improvement in the state's drought conditions. They also said there hasn't been a significant improvement in our reservoirs. Because of this, Denver Water is considering implementing further steps to increase water conservation in the community.

If the board approves the recommendations at its meeting on Wednesday, customers will be required to turn off their spray irrigation systems after Sept. 30. After that date, customers would only be able to hand-water their trees and plants. Denver Water says it's the second time it has considered this strict a set of watering restrictions. Colorado's reservoirs rely heavily on the snowpack, and the utility says they are far behind where reservoir levels usually are at this time of year. They project that reservoirs in the area will be only 60% full by next spring.
