Chessum signs new two-year deal with Leicester

Leicester Tigers captain Ollie Chessum has signed a new multi-year deal to stay at Welford Road. Ollie Chessum led Leicester to a second-half comeback over Northampton Saints on Saturday The 26-year-old has made 88 appearances since graduating from the Tigers academy and was named club captain ahead of the 2025/26 season. He was also part of the side that won the 2022 Premiership title. The new two-year deal comes less than a week after fellow England international Jack van Poortvliet committed his future to Leicester. Leicester head coach Geoff Parling said: "Those young lads who have come through the academy have been developed here; they are hungry for the team to do well.
"The fans can identify themselves in them because they see a local player playing, which is really important, and they are quality players as well. "Ollie has really developed as a captain; he's really pushing on, he's a great driver of what we do, and he's well supported from other players. "I'd heard some good stuff about him before I arrived here but wanted to make my own mind up. "In the first few weeks around training, I could see how he was and his desire to get better, which actually aligned with some of my bits of thinking and how we perform and how we train,
