Finger Lakes Gas Prices Continue to Climb  Finger Lakes Daily News

Gas prices continue to climb across New York and the nation, with motorists now paying well over a dollar more per gallon than they were a year ago. AAA reports the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $4.47, up 16 cents from last Monday and 32 cents over the past two weeks.

The national average stood at $3.18 one year ago. In New York, the statewide average is $4.48 a gallon, an increase of nine cents over the past week. A year ago, New York’s average was $3.23. AAA Western and Central New York reports prices are also higher across the region. The average is $4.43 in Ithaca, up 11 cents from last week; $4.42 in Rochester, up 12 cents; and $4.36 in Elmira, also up 12 cents. Elsewhere, averages stand at $4.42 in both Batavia and Buffalo, $4.39 in Syracuse, $4.46 in Rome and $4.55 in Watertown.
